These two movies offer a pleasant alternative to cracking the venerable tome itself. Both feature voluptuous Molly Blooms. The 1967 feature Ulysses is still regarded as the most successful attempt to bring Joyce's novel to the screen. When it opened in New Zealand it was considered so risque that the government forbade theatres from showing it to mixed audiences of men and women. The movie was not cleared for public viewing in Ireland until 2000, 33 years after its release.
