This early colour photo from 1952 features Duffy's Taxi number 5, still wet from a car wash and resplendant with gleaming chrome.
The hubcabs are inscribed "Meteor", a Ford product marketed in Canada for many years. In fact the only difference between a Meteor and a Ford was the grill and the trim.
Duffy's, an association of owner-operators, absorbed United Taxi and part of Veterans-Nash in 1964 to become Winnipeg's second largest cab fleet.
