2D. Day of Week

Chart 2D-1 (below) shows homicides by day of the week:

As noted under Month / Day of month, this section looks for a time-related pattern in the occurrence of homicides.

As Chart 2D-1 indicates, the homicides so far identified seem to have occurred most frequently on weekends (Friday to Sunday) but plenty of homicides have been carried out on other days of the week.

Consequently there seems to be little or no practical driver-safety application for this knowledge.

Further, since so many homicides occur overnight, a better definition of a "day" might be from noon to noon rather than midnight to midnight so that the week would run from Sunday/Monday to Saturday/Sunday.

However, this redefinition would require more complete information than we now have about the time of day (or night) when homicides have occurred.
