Jean-Eudes Gauvin

Rimouski, Québec / June 3, 1978


Shortly before 1:45 a.m. on the morning of Friday, June 2, 1978, Rimouski cab driver Jean-Eudes Gauvin, 47, picked up an 18-year-old man at a downtown restaurant. Minutes later the young man stabbed Mr. Gauvin about ten times. Mr. Gauvin was taken to hospital but died of stab wounds to the head and body about three o'clock Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, police and friends of Mr. Gauvin searched a wooded area near to the crime scene. At about 11 a.m. on Friday they captured the suspect who quickly confessed. He claimed to be under the influence of drugs when he attacked Mr. Gauvin.

Mr. Gauvin was married with five grown children.
