The big beneficiary of the publicity surrounding the femmes cocher seems to have been the "Valentin’s Company" so prominently featured in many of the postcards. Could it be that this company actually orchestrated the publicity?

Did the company deliberately use the novelty of women drivers to drum up business for their declining trade?

Did they recruit and sponsor a group of women who were willing to take on the apprenticeship course and the police exam?

And did the company work behind the scenes to defuse any political and bureaucratic opposition to their scheme?
