Picture (left): The cab driver: An Important Character.

Another card of the kind that depicted typical representatives of occupations or ethnic groups. The gentleman striking the operatic pose is rather well dressed for a cocher de fiacre and he may represent a private coachman. The card is really just a fashion plate showing off a picturesque costume and it tells us little or nothing about the individual or his occupation.

Other examples of this same card include the caption "Un Important Personnage" at the bottom but it seems to have been trimmed off in this case.
