The story of the femmes cocher leaves several unanswered questions. First, why did a group of half a dozen or more women all decide at once that they wanted to be cab drivers?

Most social revolutions involve noisy, contentious public battles initiated by persistent individuals or well-organized groups. But in this case the women seemingly materialized out of nowhere and their invasion of a male preserve was unopposed, at least initially.
