The mem-notes folder contains mostly news items that were formerly accessible from the Memoriam page by "Source" hyperlinks associated with entries on the Memoriam list. As of March 13, 2011, the links are removed due to concern about notorious "copyright trolls" such as Righthaven, a Las Vegas law firm that specializes in finding unlicenced works on the Internet. The attacking law firms do not recognize fair-use provisions of the copyright laws such as are applicable to a not-for-profit educational site like Taxi-Library. Instead of sending "take-down" notices, they threaten expensive legal fights and strong arm web site owners into settlements. According to items on Slashdot, tiny blog sites are targeted along with large media sites. To use these again, summarize the contents of the news items rather than reproduce them. Possibly do that only for selected cases such as SF, NYC and London. Note that getting rid of the Source links also eliminates thousands of html validation errors due to spaces in URLs, etc. caused by my current method of generating pages through spreadsheets.
