MANILA, Philippines -- The bloodied body of a taxi driver believed to be a
robbery victim was found inside his vehicle early morning Tuesday in
Project 4, Quezon City.

Victor Twano, a resident of the village of Bagong Buhay, was on his way
home when he discovered the body of a man at the back seat of a GM
Ibarra taxi (PWA 209) parked in front of a house along Magat Salamat
Street, Project 4 at around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Responding police investigators from the Quezon City Police District
Station 8 later identified the victim as taxi driver Ernesto Aparecio, 62, a
resident of Dahlia Street, Amparo Capri in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said the victim's throat was slit, his
head lacerated, and arms and hands full of defense wounds, indicating the
victim may have fought the alleged robber.

Authorities said the fatality may have been a victim of robbery after his
personal belongings, including his wallet and cell phone, could not be found
inside the vehicle.

Police said the assailant remains at large and that they are looking for
witnesses who may have any information on the incident.
