RUSTON - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a suspect
in the shooting death of a cab driver Wednesday afternoon,
according to a release issued this morning by the Lincoln
sheriff's office.

The warrant charges Lundy D. Harris, 18, with one count of first-
degree murder. Lincoln deputies continue to look for him but
believe he has left the immediate vicinity.

Harris is a suspect in the death of John Ray Griffith, 47, of Hico
community. Griffith was found dead about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday
near his Courtesy Cab van that Lincoln deputies discovered on
the Mondy Road. Griffith appeared to have been shot and was
pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness reported seeing a man flee into the woods north of
Mondy Road. Officers established a perimeter around the area,
and tracking dogs from the Ruston Police Department and Wade
Correctional Center near Homer were called in.

The dogs led authorities to a residence in the neighborhood and
further investigation led to the identification of Harris as a
suspect. He is described as a black male, who stands 6 feet, 1
inch tall, weighs 200 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
