FULLERTON- A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on
suspicion of beating a cab driver so badly that the man went into
a coma. The cab driver died of his injuries last week, never
recovering from the coma.

Fullerton detectives tracked Shawn Kenneth Zuelzke to his
Santa Ana home and arrested him about 6:30 p.m., Fullerton
police Lt. Doug Cave said.

The cab driver, Bernard Ngwanguma, 48, of Lakewood, was
attacked by at least one man about 2:15 a.m. May 6, Cave said.
He suffered several injuries, including a fractured skull, in the
attack and was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana,
where he died Thursday.

The incident occurred after three men, who had called for a cab,
were verbally accosted by Zuelzke and another man as
Ngwanguma's cab approached, Fullerton police Sgt. Linda King
said.

When the three men got into the cab, Zuelzke punched the
passenger's window, prompting Ngwanguma to get out of his
cab, King said. Zuelzke reportedly punched him at least once in
the face, knocking him to the ground, where he struck his head
on the pavement, King added.

Zuelzke is being held at Fullerton city jail on suspicion of murder
and will be arraigned tomorrow at North Orange County Superior
Court.
