A retired postal worker from Cliffside Park who drove a taxi to
make ends meet was killed early Sunday in Palisades Park in a
head-on collision with a Jeep whose driver was charged with
vehicular homicide and drunken driving.

John Worsham, 61, who drove for Scotty's Taxi Co. in Cliffside
Park for one year, was on his last call when he was killed, said
an employee at Scotty's.

The driver of the Jeep, Alexander Martirosian, 20, of Cliffside
Park, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, was arrested at
the scene after police smelled alcohol on his breath, said Bergen
County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

Martirosian was treated at Hackensack University Medical
Center, where a blood sample was drawn, Molinelli said.

Police are awaiting toxicology results.

The accident occurred about 4:50 a.m. on Route 5 south.
