    Ediphene Joseph, 1998
Estimated 7 additional in 1998, see below

Based on a review of about twenty news items documenting the homicides listed above, as many as eleven additional New York City livery driver homicides may have occured between 1998-2001.

Specifically, a news item on the funeral of Jose del Carmen Felix quoted a TLC official as saying that there were 8 livery homicides in 1998. One was identified in the list above, thus 7 additional deaths presumably occured in that year.

Two of the articles in the sample state that there were 9 homicides in 1999, while two other articles give the total as 11. Seven are identified above, and so it is likely that there were from 2 to 4 others in that year.

The total for 2000 is believed to be correct based on similar internal evidence within the sample of articles reviewed, including a February 2001 item stating that it had been nearly a year since the previous homicide.

A number of press accounts appeared in March 2002 regarding the deaths of two reportedly off-duty livery drivers. One quotes an industry spokesperson as saying that it had been "almost a year" since the previous livery driver homicide, presumably that of Anelivda Brown in May 2001.
