The Countess was moved back across Higgins Avenue onto the station grounds in 1944. She suffered drastically from the effects of the weather and vandalism for the next 25 years.
In 1970 she was restored with the financial help of George Richardson and put on display in a small park on Main Street adjacent to the Manitoba Museum.

Railway Stations (2)
In this photo's yellow box an omnibus (A) and a cab (B) are parked at the foot of the driveway leading up to the main entrance of the station.
Barring their way is an official-looking gentleman in an overcoat. He may be a "starter" who is waiting for a signal from the station doorman before allowing one or the other vehicle to proceed.
Most of the omnibuses in the lot have their backs to the station, making it easier for them to swing around into position at the foot of the driveway.
