Thomas Man Tang

Vancouver, British Columbia / March 31, 1978

Thomas Man Tang was shot March 29 above left eye apparently after refusing to hand over money to a robber.

Witnesses described assailant as white male with long hair, sideburns, a prominent nose and a deep cleft in his upper lip.

The murder took place near Coal Harbour Marina. It was reportedly the first murder involving a Vancouver cab driver since the death of Muk-Chee Tam five years earlier.

A $10,000 reward was posted by Vancouver Taxi Owners Association, which rejected any link with earlier criticism that they did not take Mr. Tang's murder seriously.

In 1995 the Vancouver Police "historical homicide squad" tracked down a suspect in the murder, but as a result of the investigation the suspect was cleared of any involvement.
