Meanwhile the bandits shifted their operations across the Chicago River and seem to have spent the next hour and a half driving up and down Halsted Street.

At 2:45 a.m. they attacked George Morris on South Halsted at the point where it was crossed by the Chicago and Alton Railroad viaduct. Morris was robbed of ten dollars.

Up to now John Simonds had been driving the cab, but after they robbed Morris Simonds climbed into the cab beside Kane and Robert O'Brien took the reins.
