Driver Experience
Does length of taxi driving experience have anything to do with taxi driver victimization? Are rookie drivers more likely to be murdered than veteran drivers?
The following graph summarize data from the detailed table below which identifies 100 homicide victims by amount of taxi driving experience. The listed drivers are those for whom information about length of driving experience was available. Two drivers, Antonio Lanzellotti (2 months experience) and Balvir Singh Toor (about ten years experience) are excluded because they were victims of vehicular homicide rather than homicidal attacks.
The data do not seem to show that homicides have any correlation with driver experience, particularly with respect to less experience resulting in more homicides. In fact, as the detailed table below shows, 55 percent of taxi driver homicide victims had 5 or more years of driving experience.
